SELF EVIDENT TRUTHS WORTH CONSIDERING

  • We all have a sense of right and wrong.
Jas 4:17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

  • Righteousness is simply doing the right thing.
1Jn 3:7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.

  • Jesus taught that the essense of true righteousness is love.
Mar 12:29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:
Mar 12:30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
Mar 12:31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.

  • Authentic love is thus the true essense of true Christianity and God manifested this truth to the world through the teachings and example of Jesus Christ.
Joh 17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
Joh 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Joh 14:7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.

  • Heart purity brings forth pure love and a genuine knowledge of God.
Mat 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

  • Authentic love is brought forth through abiding in the Spirit of the living God.
1Pe 1:22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:
1Pe 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

  • God is spirit and thus to abide in the "essence" or "Spirit of God" a human being must submit themselves to genuine love, to the essense of God, with their whole heart (ie. no rebellion)
Jas 1:21Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.
Jas 1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
This is why Jesus preached "repentance." Repentance is simply the turning away from all known wrong doing because one's heart (motivation) and mind (understanding) is in agreement with righteousness.
Luk 5:32 I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
Rom 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

  • With the heart and mind both submitted to God, the Spirit or Essense of the living God renews the spirit or essense of the submitted individual. This is the New Birth that Jesus spoke about.
Joh 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

  • Paul described the New Birth as being Quickened.
Col 2:10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
Col 2:11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:
Col 2:12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.
Col 2:13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;

  • Any individual who repents (turns from selfishness/unrighteousness/pride) and yields themselves to God is therefore quickened unto life, going from a state of darkness to a state of light.
Act 26:18 To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.

  • Faith is simply wholehearted trust and submission to God. Faith works by love and love works no ill. Faith therefore upholds the law of God because faith denotes true righteousness within the heart by which an individual manifests righteous conduct. Faith is not blind, on the contrary, faith truly sees.
Gal 5:6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.
Rom 13:10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.
1Jn 3:6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
1Jn 3:7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
1Jn 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
1Jn 3:9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
1Jn 3:10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.

  • God offers every individual the abundant life. A life of knowing one is no longer part of the problem, no longer complicit in the evils of this present world. A life of truly knowing God, a knowing God has forgiven one of their past life of unrighteousness and rebellion and granted them a fresh start.
Joh 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

  • Few will choose the abundant life because the path of least resistance is to reject it. Choosing life involves a death and resurrection, a dying to selfishness, a dying to unrighteousness, a dying to pride and self will. It means forsaking the serving of that which is temporal and instead yielding to the service of that which is eternal.
Joh 12:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.
Joh 12:25 He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.
There is a cost associated with submitting to the way, the life, and the truth.
Luk 14:27 And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.
Luk 14:28 For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?
Luk 14:29 Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him,
Luk 14:30 Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish.
Luk 14:31 Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand?
Luk 14:32 Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sendeth an ambassage, and desireth conditions of peace.
Luk 14:33 So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.

  • Therefore I urge you, dear reader, to repent and believe the good news. Spend some quiet time and examine your heart in all honesty. Is it worth it to gain the whole world and lose your very soul, a soul lost and sold over to the enslavement of unrighteousness, selfishness, and rebellion to God?
Mar 1:15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.
Joh 8:34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.
Joh 8:35 And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever.
Joh 8:36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
