Sin and Spiritual Death

Romans 5:12
Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned

Think about that verse carefully.

1. Sin entered the world by one man.
2. That man was Adam. Before Adam there was no sin in the world.
3. Death came also by sin.

Now read this passage...

Jas 1:14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
Jas 1:15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

1. Temptation/Enticement -------------> Lust Conceived/Lust Obeyed ------------> Sin Produced
 2. Sin brings forth death/death by sin.

Also look at this passage...

Rom 7:8 But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead.
Rom 7:9 For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.
Rom 7:10 And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death.
Rom 7:11 For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me.

1. Commandment ------------> Evil Desire/Temptation ---------------> Sin
2. Sin Kills

Remember that God said, "the day that you eat ye shall surely die" (Gen 2:17).

The "death" being spoken of in Rom 7:11 is SPIRITUAL DEATH not physical death. Paul is speaking of SPIRITUAL DEATH.

Now look back at Romans 5...

Rom 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
Rom 5:13 (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.
Rom 5:14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.

1. By Adam sin came into the world and therefore death.
2. Sin is not reckoned without law (because sin can only kill via taking occasion of the commandment (Rom 7:8), this is because "sin unto death" requires KNOWLEDGE because it is REBELLION TO GOD).
3. None the less sin reigned between Adam and Moses (the time period without the given Law (Ten Commandments) because men still had the light of conscience (Rom 2:14-16). Thus between Adam and Moses people sinned in a different way to Adam, not in the same manner. Adam violated a direct commandment (a given law) whilst those between Adam and Moses violated their conscience.

Rom 5:12 is not teaching the doctrine of Original Sin or anything even close to that. It is simply teaching that Adam led the way in regards to being the first human, in this world, to rebel against God. Technically it was Eve, but Adam was the head figure.

Jesus succeeded where Adam failed. Jesus did not do what Adam did, Jesus instead brought LIFE via not sinning, Adam brought death by sinning.

Physical death is simply due to this...

Gen 3:22 And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:

The Tree of Life is what could prevent physical death. Adam and Eve were denied access after their sin. We have inherited the curse from Adam which is simply being born in a troubled, cursed, and sinful world from which God took a step back. God no longer walked with man.

Spiritual death is simply a state of condemnation where one is set apart from God due to rebellion. True life is found in God and to turn away from that is death, even though we still have the full use of our faculties in this dead state. Sinning serves to harden the heart and therefore disinclines people to repent. Thus people find themselves in a state of bondage, dead to God, even though they know better.

It is the Spirit of life IN Jesus Christ which sets us free from this dead state. Read Romans 8:2. The Spirit of life IN Jesus Christ is what sets us free from the law of sin and death. The law of sin and death is that sin always results in a dead state and condemnation. One single sin kills, just like with Adam.

We enter into the Spirit of life IN Jesus Christ through a genuine repentance. A genuine repentance is the breaking of the rebellious spirit we defiled ourselves with through sinning. It is the old man and that old man has to die permanently. With the old man dead the new man can be born. Hence Jesus taught that those whom will lose their lives will save them. He was speaking about the death of the old man, the crucifixion of the flesh, the destruction of the body of sin. With that destroyed we then are able to yield to God and God then does the rest by quickening us spiritually and physically. We are raised back to life where we serve righteousness instead of sin. It is a beautiful thing.


How are we set free from sin?

Rom 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
Rom 6:5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
Rom 6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
Rom 6:7 For he that is dead is freed from sin.

We are set free from SERVING SIN. That means we no longer obey sin. Jesus died on our behalf so we could die WITH Him whereby this service to sin would come to a stop. That is why the Bible says this...

1Pe 4:1 Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;
1Pe 4:2 That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.

It is the lusts of the flesh with draw people into sin. We as Christians, ought to have crucified the flesh with the passions and desires whereby we no longer allow ourselves to be drawn into sin and thus death. We are set free from this law of sin and death via the Spirit of life in Jesus Christ (an abiding manifest walk).

He who suffers in the flesh has ceased from sin. Read that again. The sin actually stops, we no longer live the rest of our time in the flesh to the lusts of men. We no longer submit ourselves the the lusts of the flesh through which sin is conceived which in turn brings death (Jam 1:14-15) This is why Paul would say this...

Rom 6:11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Rom 6:12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
Rom 6:13 Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.

It is all about yielding. Genuine faith is simply wholehearted yielding to God. Grace is the divine influence of God upon our hearts which teaches us the right way to go (Tit 2:10-11). It is through yielding ourselves wholeheartedly to God's divine influence that we are totally transformed and brought to life. Hence we are saved by grace through faith.

Modern Christianity is so perverted that it doesn't teach any of this. The Bible is so clear in regards to these things and yet the obvious is not seen due to the all encompassing veil that false doctrines produce. Is your mind veiled?
